Aloha,

It is time to start thinking about participating in the 2021 Oahu Sea Perch Regional Competition. It was with great regret, but in the interest of health and safety that we cancelled last year's competition. The U.S. Coast Guard has been supporting this program and competition for several years and is looking forward to another great year of working with students and teachers to learn and grow.

We are hoping to execute the full competition as we have in past years but are working alternative plans in case local conditions still preclude large gatherings.

This year competition will be limited to a maximum of 50 teams to make overall management easier in the COVID environment. Initially, the number of teams from an individual school will be limited to five (5) to ensure maximum participation. Schools can request additional teams which may be permitted. As situations change, we will consider increasing the maximum number of teams. Use the team registration form at www.cgroboticsoahu.com to register each team (one submission per team)

If you would like to volunteer to host a build day, please let me know. I understand that these may be conditional offers to host.

Key Dates for 2021 Competition

Build Dates: 23JAN, 30JAN, 06FEB, 13FEB (Locations TBD)

Practice Dates: 27FEB and 06MAR

Competition Date: 27MAR21

Costs are always a concern. Through a partnership with the U.S. Navy we have been able to provide kits to schools free. We expect to be able to do the same this year, but we will need to order kits in the near future in order to have them in time for build events in January and February. So, please sign up soon if you are interested in participating.  The www.cgroboticsoahu.com site provides additional information on the program and links to the Sea Perch national website. The website also has a page where you can sign up your teams.  Schools may have more than one team, please sign up each team individually. Please sign up by 23OCT20.
